Hi All
Just signed up to the forum as we are getting back into a Patrol. We have spent the last few years in a pathfinder which has been great for the round town, long haul road trips and the light duty bush/beach that we have asked of it.
We have however decided to get back into adventuring off road mostly solo and with a camper in tow. With that in mind I looked at the options in the current market and to my mind albeit biased couldn't go past a Patrol again as a 3L manual ST. Next weekend we pick it up and straight from dealership to ARB for a Safari Snorkel.
We will be using it for weekender camping trips and an annual trip 3-4 week trip. At this stage thinking 2014 will be somewhere out of Adelaide (probably Flinders) and 2015 either Simpson or Cape.
Planned mods to come are bullbar & winch, canvas seat covers, uprated springs (maybe with slight lift) & dual batteries.
Hoping to seek guidance from here on which products to go for and perhaps do some trips with some of you as we are new to Sydney.

Welcome mate, surely the best forum on the net. If you need it, you can get it, if you want to know it, just ask it.
If you want to find it, go to the search bar for a universe of information.
Enjoy the sights and sounds of the greatest show on earth.

Cheers everyone. I cannot wait to get back out offroad with much less care as to whether I will end up like a stuck duck.
Growler, Haven't come across a forum yet that doesn't help you spend money - I have spent last 10 years pouring money into Subaru's and participating in tarmac events wherever time & funds permitted. I know I can't help myself with mods so after my initial setup, I am hoping it will mostly compromise of some DIYs with minimal $$ outlays. I want this rig to be all about getting out and using (not destroying) it rather than pouring $$$ into as I have a family now for that ;-)
Fruitloop, SA in general is a beautiful place for anyone who loves the outdoors & camping! We spent just shy of two years there with work before moving to Sydney again for work so looking forward to getting back and visiting friends. We are Brisbane born & breds though so Moreton & Fraser is where I grew up along with some inland trips thrown in too.

Picked up the new rig over the weekend, great to be back in a Patrol! Safari snorkel & MSA Canvas seat covers fitted.

I appreciated the dealer organising a large round socket but have to wonder what the installer was thinking mounting it so low, I won't last one outing like this. http://l.bitcasa.com/WXuA4CtE
Now to decide which bullbar & winch!
