Hi everyone,

Got a question here that I'm hoping someone can answer, I want to mount a tool box onto of my roof rack, just keep things tidy for when I head out an do a lap of Oz.
At the moment my rig, with rooftop tent stand at a height from ground to top is 2.3mtrs, once I add the toolbox, this will bring total height to 2.5mtrs....is this an ok height for highest point of a fixed object or is there restrictions on height and I get pinged for it??
This is a pic of my rig and the toolbox I want to mount.

Limit for any truck in Aussie is 4.2m before they need a permit but a 4x4 I don't know!? I reckon you are fine mate

Most caravans will exceed 2.5m

Yes, I just wasn't sure on a 4x4 though, although I seen many rigs packed high as hell with jerry cans and surfboards heading out for some RnR...lol, thought I'ld ask though:).

I just manage to squeeze through with the tent onboard, guess I'll have to leg it in once the toolbox is mounted.

Height should be fine for the blacktop, although you are better off keeping weight as low as possible.

Toolbox will also dent performance and fuel economy as it will be a real windbreak .....

It will also prove a hassle for low overhanging branches .......

Thanks, I'm always aware of whats up top due to the roof top tent, in a way if I were to encounter a low branch, I'ld rather the toolbox cope the flack first than the tent.

I travelled around oz in my GQ shorty with a roof rack and toolbox up top, was fine on the black top as when you are travelling you are never in a real hurry. just left it at camp when exploring.
