Unknown module ????

Hey everyone just wondering what the box is on the passenger side chassis rail inline with the door is it a module of some kind ?????

It's just a black plastic cover that protects the body to chassis electrical connectors.

Ok so it doesn't do anything important then ??? I may jave has smoke comming out from mine lol

Agree.......Smoke is never a good thing. You might need to post a photo so I can confirm we are talking about the same thing.

If if you remove the black plastic cover there should be 3 electrical connectors. If you follow the harness one will go up through the floor just under the passenger front seat. The other harness runs down the chassis to the rear tail light, fuel tanks etc.....

What were you doing when the smoke come out? how much smoke?

It might be just a bad connection at one of the connectors.

Yeah thats the one I was rwmoving the engine out of the car and a mate thought id b funny to connect the battery so my alarm would go off but then smoke filled the cab came up throu the floor traced it back to the module thing hope every thing is ok

If smoke was in the cab and it didn't come through an open door, I would say you have over heated a wire, possible the earth wire.

You will need to have a good look at the wire harness that runs from behind the passengers side kick panel, down under the scuff plate and under the passengers front seat.

As well as the connectors behind the plastic cover on the side of the chassis rail.

I can't really see any burnt wires in your photo. The bottom wire in the middle plug looks strange but that could just be mud/dirt.

Do you have anything mounted under the passenger front seat that the smoke could of come from?

Didn't connect the battery the wrong way round by any chance?

Smoke will be usually from the plastic insulation on the wires, or from a relay or circuit board ...... no circuit board or relay there .....

Nuh dont think there is anything under the seat ill have a look tomorrow tho cheers guys
No batter didnt get connected the wrong way as it only goes one way with my set up
