Hey Guys,
Did a quick search on the forum but couldnt find it posted up here.
Just wanted to make everyone aware of the "Rear Door Diner" from DCM 4x4 Customs, i stumbled upon it today at local 4x4 shop.

i know alot of people make their own setup's as it can be very cheap, but for those not so hands on with their rigs, this is great.
From what i could gather installation is a matter of Removing the original trim, Drilling a few holes and riveting the table on.
The guy in the shop showed me how strong it was by sitting on the one he has installed in his gu. quite impressive i thought.
They do 2 types, Mild Steel that is powder coated (choices available) $350 and Stainless $450, this is for the flip down table and a matching panel for the barn door.

That's a good price imo.. Stainless ain't the price it use to be that's for sure. Throw in stainless piano hinge and tug welded corners it all adds up..

yeah i agree, this is definitely on my shopping list in the near future.
This caught my attention as i have never seen a "commercially" available flip down table. something that you could buy and install yourself as this one is.

Personally I'd go stainless because of this. spend the extra $100

Yea fridge On the left, but pantry right. Recovery gear and non Essentials in left draw..
Personally I'd go stainless because of this. spend the extra $100
And if it's just painted mild steel it'll rust and deteriorate quicker..

Even galv would scratch and eventually rust.. And galv has large pores. No good for hygiene..
Stainless all the way..

I just made one out of a bit of plywood I had lying around and a "piano hinge"or whatever they're called and retasked a broken ratchet strap as the support.
Bit of spray varnish to seal and hey Presto. Cost about $10 all up.

I'm like Roofy I'll wait and see if I see something that would be suitable as a table.
Laminate would be food safe, SS is top but sorry not at that price,
I'd rather pack a small card table which will give me slightly extra space.
No doubt a well built product, but not for all

I think the best type of table for those with rear drawers (and I saw this first in Kris GU) is to have a lid for one of the drawers so when you slide it out you have a flat surface to work with. Just gotta make sure you have got everything out that you will need!

Have you used it yet, I personally don't work out of the back of the Patrol.
We take a huge tarp that houses a prep table[aluminium top] An eating table.
Plus a zip up cupboard, all pots and pans stay on a shelf under prep table.

Not as of yet only installed it last night. But got a trip this weekend where it will get a workout.
Well the idea is to use it for "Quick stops" like lunch, or overnighters rather than having to pull out and set up the fold up table.
Camping somewhere for a few days would involve getting the awning outt putting walls on setting up tables etc haha

Out of curiosity how do the fix to the door??
Do you need to drill holes and rivet?

I can see it as a great place to boil the Kettle for a roadside cuppa, or whip up some sandwiches

I guess it's personal choice really. With 3 females and 2 under 3years space is at a premium. I can't see this changing in the future, just the contents of the load.. Lol
We live outta of the patrol when away. It's all there. Stove goes at the end of the bench, and all prep On the bench. All cups mugs, food, dishes etc live in the pantry.
In-laws have one of those fold out pantries, but it's just the 2 of em so they have more room..

Yup pull the trim off and drill and rivet on (which could be a pain if you need to get into the door for wiring etc.) i have a feeling im going to need to do that when i install a light mounted to the spare tire :/
All the holes are predrilled in the Stainless though so that is essentially a template.

If there stainless rivits you'll need a quality drill the same size you drilled threw with, lots if lube and drill threw the center of the head. Once your 2-3mm deep a quick knock to the side of the head and they will shear Off, if it hasn't spun off already..
But you will need new rivets.

I would suggest some type of screw so it can be taken off. The moment you make it final, you will need to get back in.
