Hi I'm new to the site ,just got on to a 2012 GU 7 with the correct bits winch ect.
My first Patrol was a GQ oiler which I loved but due to the truck ride we went Subaru ah! ah! ah!
I'm now back with a more comfortable ride.
Can anyone comment on any key problems I should watch out for.

sorry just realised not GQ but a 3.3 t MQ how could I???

Probably better off posting your question in the appropriate forum section.
It's just some people don't read the intro section.
Welcome mate, surely the best forum on the net. If you need it, you can get it, if you want to know it, just ask it.
If you want to find it, go to the search bar for a universe of information.
Enjoy the sights and sounds of the greatest show on earth.

Welcome mate. And welcome back. Pretty sure the newer GU's are pretty fault free. A NADS setup never goes astray with helping tune and maintain the engine, but they old grenades are pretty much passed.
I'm pretty sure they have just been recalled though for a faulty foot sensor as its no longer cable, its all electrical these days..
Anyway jump in and enjoy.
Cheers

Thanks for the welcome, the advice re questions is noted.
Here is a bit about myself, the wrong side of 50 the family is the girl(she likes that) and two boxers! I don't have a license for children, we live on the Bellarine in Vic.
The Patrol has some good bits with it.
Tow bar, running boards,.Duel batteries, Factory Bar and warn winch.
Snorkel to go skin diving.
The first trip will be mainly a road trip to the Flinders ranges via Innamincka did I say road.hmmm?
We are travelling with experienced friends with a 2000 Patrol so I will need to prepare, that should happen in March 2014.
With reference to the MQ, now that was a good vehicle we used it mainly for towing the boat, Perth, Brisbane, Canberra, and all over Victoria, Alas age got the better of the old girl and had to go.
cheers ,thanks for the welcome.

G'day Barnelly,

Love the no license for kids part! GOLD!

Welcome to the forum mate, there's heaps and heaps of information available here. There are a lot of guys that own 4WD accessory stores, and diesel mechanical businesses on here, so there is an absolute wealth of knowledge at our fingertips.

Have a good look around, heaps of discussions, and a Y62 section for all you posh offroaders :P

PS! Check out the links that trekster posted up, especially using towballs as a recovery can kill. It does kill and can cause quite a lot of property damage if the towball pin snaps.
We are lucky having patrols, having such strong chassis rails and strong mounting points for snatching and towing of other 4WD's

Enjoy the forum,
Lionel

Thanks for the welcome once again well "I bought a patrol" it arrived on the 4th I do have a question but first about the bus.
First up !dual batteries running boards winch and bar( winch currently has an over ride but not tragic} snorkel and tow gear Gee its nice to drive after the MQ.
First question can someone shed some light on the front Hubs.
The GU7 model hand book indicates the position for road as Auto or Lock, yesterday we ran in auto and lock position at high way speed auto was noisy ! experiance says noise is BAD.
