Hey guys i'm new to this fourm. i have recently bought a 1996 GQ Patrol 2.8 Turbo Diesel, I have had the car about 2 weeks i picked it up for $5000. It came with 2 inch lift, new tyres, new head and a new turbo. When i first bought it i had a little look over it and sused somethings like rust, k's, electrics ect. Everything seemed fine and i was happy. I bought it from Sydney which is a long way from where I live so my first test was to see if i could get it home in one piece. The car drove great the whole way home everything seeming fine somethings i picked up on were that the breaks were a tad laggy and sloppy. The turbo was sounding great steering and everything was fine so i was happy and keen to get out in the bush! So the next day i decided to buy a Boost Gauge for it to see how much psi i was running. After installing the gauge i discovered that my car was running 10 pounds of boost at 4000rpm which made me very happy! I was so keen to get out with my mates into the bush and hit some tracks. So that weekend i got out finally! out wolaroo way. I was out for about a hour when i heard a snap from under the bonnet :/ i just thought it would of been a stick or something so I got out and had a look to find my fan belt had snapped. As i was running to turn off the engine to prevent any more damage i heard another loud snap then a twang. After switching off the car i went back to see what had happened the alternator and aircon bests had also snapped also i realised something was missing, i looked under the car to see my harmonic balancer laying on the ground. the only way home was to my mates house who lived 2 or 3 ks away from where we were at the time lucky! We got back to expect what had happened my mate being a diesel mechanic which was also lucky. We found that the harmonic balancer had no bolt in it to begin with and from the balancer being torn off while the engine was running it had ripped the key out of the crankshaft and stripped the absolute shit out off the crankshaft so now i have to replace the crankshaft will post photos of my journey along the way. :)
Advice and commets would be most appreciated. :D
