Winch Advice..

G'day guys,

I'm looking to fit a winch to my 1999 Patrol.

I'm based in Qatar and there isn't much available on the market here. Although there is a shop which sells 'Warn' winches (or 'wench' as they call them here, lol).

I'm wondering can anyone give some advice on the capacity of winch I should be looking at for general, infrequent use. I don't want to spend too much money, but on the other hand 6 months down the line I don't want to wish I bought a better one.

A 9000lb winch would be the minimum size I would fit to a GU/Y61

as 92 mentions above, 9-9500lbs would be the smallest I would use, 12000lbs would be better as it will have less pressure on the working parts if you can fit it.

There are heaps available out there cheaper than Warn if you can get your hands on 1 and Warn doesn't necessarily mean it's the best as a lot of the price is for the name
