Hey guys
Have a problem with the car. I am in Tilpa NSW on a trip, the problem is that the engine light has come on.
I have checked the fuel filter for water and that is clear.
When I turn the car off the
Light hoes off for about 15ks or so. I tried adjusting the needle valve thinking I had the wrong boost going .
I think my intercooler is leaking now, would that have anything to do with it?

G'day Oddie,
go with June first, seems to be a bit of a go to with these poxie computer controlled engines.
Only time I had it happen ( on an '08CRD) was when my 'camshaft position sensor' went cactus. Ran on O.K. because it seems there must be another sensor (possibly a 'crank shaft position sensor' maybe which carried the load. Anyway, IMO seems that if you're running OK, don't panic but get it analyzed as soon as poss..
Hope I'm on the right track,
Col

The fuel filter light will also come on when the filter needs replacing(ie if it's dirty and just needs replacing)As for the intercooler leaking sorry mate can't help you with that one.

Is there any where you can take it to, to scan the ECU to see what error code you're getting?
Not the same vehicle I know but had the same thing happen twice on my old XTrail, first time was the O2 sensor failed second time was the crank position sensor failed

Hey guys found a bloke in Louth at the pub with a engine scanner. It says
Code 001
0077 p7-f/inj timg
He managed to clear the code.
The fuel filter was only replaced two weeks ago.
On my way to Bourke now so will see if the error comes up again

Oddie,
reckon that's all you can do. looks like it's a problem with a fuel injection pump sensor. That's if the error letters mean more than the code which I haven't got, but I may be looking at the wrong model.
All the best

I am a happy man, did the big drive home yesterday and all went great no engine lights came on.
We did over a 1000ks and took about 12 hours and the car ran great.
Changing over the new fuel filter did the trick. I put in a ryco one, and noticed it was a bit shorter that the one I put in about two weeks ago. The other filter was a repco home brand one.
I have read that the oem nissan ones a the better ones out of the aftermarket filters, they have better filtering qualities.
So I think I will be getting one of them to be on the safe side.

Great to hear that the filter did the trick mate....just to be sure you can always wack a inline filter in it too..Cheers for the follow up aswell cause that can be used for future reference..

Good one Oddie.
Used to be a long time ago when they first came out that a Ryco filter was a real cheapie. Good but cheap.
Last times I've checked they pretty much all seem about the same price, in fact a few years ago genuine Nissan filters were a tiny bit cheaper than Ryco.
I'd use either but after a bad trot with a cheapie in Darwin, I'd not touch any of the others. A buck saved on filters just doesn't equal a new motor earlier than need be.
Cheers

Being that you only just replaced the filter prior to the problem, could it be that you might have filled up with contaminated fuel too? Just guessing here!

Fuel was fine, I had a mate with us on the trip in a patrol also fill up from the same place and same pump. He didn't have any problems.
