I've been looking on ebay for a hid kit for my ipf 900xs lights but not sure what whattage I should go for? I want something that's going to be a white and very bright ass bulb lol without being blue or orange if that makes sence... Do y'all know of any details in that or were to get the hid kits from safely?

I have just done this conversion. I chose 50w 4500 colour kit. Slim line ballast that I was able to fit inside the light case.

5-5500K (kelvin) would be your colour range, clear but not blue.

Go a slimline kit if available as MR posted above or go LED's

Yea 55w. Any higher and you will destroy either the lenses or wiring due to heat build up..

You buy in colour {heat} range 3000K-3500K [kelvin] is close to OE,,,,, 5000K is a very bright white light and any higher you'll start turning blue then purple , pink etc.
Slimline style ballast will allow you to fit ballast inside light housing, If it doesn't work first time reverse plug to ballast they go either way.
Same story with globe don't touch it with fingers

I put 70w( i think) at 4500k in my 800 IPF's. What a waste of time that was. They are still crap. I think I need to get some spotties that are actually designed to have HID's in them. 900's are probably a better spottie though...

I hope not....the lenses are glass.....

I have 6000k 35W in my IPF 900's and will probably change to 55W or 75W 4300k in the future as there is too much reflected light from road signs at 6000k.

Otherwise mine work well.

I have light force 170 with 100watt hids at 6000k color heat build up for me not a problem as I had them on for we'll in excess of an hour probably 2hours so for me no heat build up but the 6000k light is way to white I will definitely go back to about 4500k and I think 55to70watt should be ample, also with the 6000k light my standard headlights I couldn't see after turning them off so I had to put in ipf fatboy globes in at 3200k so I could see so I hope that can help you decide.kev

I have 800s with 55w internal ballast (and I think) 4500k lights (don't reflect too much) and they are noice, maybe thats because I don't know how bad they are, dunno :). Much better than the originals. Need to adjust them at the mo as the spot is a little low :(

I lit up some 'parkers' the other night, didn't realise they had finished and having a smoke out side the car, well anyway lets just say I was not in their good books :)

I've heard that some places sell higher wattage but they are not what you expect eg buy 70w but is closer to 50w actual

Yeah sure

They will be bolted up and tested on the Octoberfest trip. I don't have a halogen pic though but will give you my feedback for the 55w HID for sure. These will be tested with my 42" LED Light Bar too.

If your IPF's are anything like my 800's. Probably not. The Light bar will totally drown out the spotties. Love the light bar.

I've heard alot more bad than good about eBay upgrades, any complaints from those who have done it?

The 900XS I had on my Navara, were upgraded to HID at ARB them selves. This is 3 years ago now. Pretty sure it was $100 both lights, ballast inside the actual light.
The guys at ARB probably sourced the HID kit from the bay them selves, I never had issues to them.

I think ARB get a lot of their stuff from Ashdown Ingram.

Hey mud runner was just wondering how the sun wolf hid's went?

To be honest I would not buy the brand again!!! The first batch the Ballast crapped out in the first minute of operation so I demanded another kit. After much debate they sent one on the promise of positive feedback. The second kit blew a globe immediately on installation and I bought another kit just for the globe.

I would never buy this brand again! First time I have ever had an issue and I have bought maybe 15 HID conversion kits to date!!!!!

The think with positive feedback on eBay is weird.
I bought some stuff a while ago and it took its sweet time getting to me. When I gave the seller less than 5 stars (3 I think) he starts sending me rude messages.....WTF? Like that's gonna get you a better rating.
Had the same with a Telstra call. When they did the satisfaction survey at the end I rated the chick 80%.......pretty good score I thought. She had a go at me 'cause everyone else had given 100%. I explained 80% should be a good score in anyone's book and I suggested she wouldn't want to work for me because I'm a hard marker and that if she wanted 100% there needed to be a free phone in it or at least something totally out of the box......still didn't get it......
