As stated 30 yrs since the America's Cup, What were you up to if around.
I was on my way home from Cape York and stopped in my mates brother place
in Bega to Watch the finish

In a Bar in Arizona (USA) on the night we won.
Great Night and we had The Land down under song on the Juke Box all night and did not buy a Beer as the Yanks did not like the New Yorkers.

I had been up half the night watching it and when it was obvious they were going to win I made my parents, brothers and sisters get out of bed to watch the end.

My wife and I were backpacking, and were high up in the Himalaya's.
A led group were from home and were carrying on a bit. We said g'day and they figured we were Aussies.
They said "we won the cup"
"What cup?" said us.
"The Americas Cup"
"What Americas Cup?" was our reply
They had been listening to Radio Australia on a short wave, and knew what had happened.
We had been away from home for a while and had no news from the outside world.
This was the time of Poste Restante, no iWhatevers or internet then LOL
