cb location. double din head unit

I would like to install a modern single din CD player and use the remaining space for a UHF.
anyone have any tips on this please?

It's a very popular thing to do, I need to do it one day.

I'm sure some others will jump on and show some pics and info.

I've still got my 1990 factory double din cassette player in my gq...lol

Hey mate. Nothing to it.
I "used" to run this setup. I had a single din unit with a slide out and up screen, and below it I fitted a fill in space panel like the one on eBay here and I had a smaller uhf unit type (remote head) fitted in there.

... IF you have a full din size UHF, it's even easier. Stereo above or below it, and that's it.

You can get fascia kits for the smaller UHF head units for ones like gme etc

Yea if you have a single din player and full size uhf just bolt it in..
If it doesn't have a forward facing speaker then grab a add on one and Mount it under the steering rack..

Once you strip the center dash out this is what you should have.

And if your uhf has a bottom speaker it should have an external speaker plug, and Mount that under the steering column

The gq 2 din location is close to the bottom of the dash I have the same setup as Westy in my GQ.

Mounting a dvd unit in the gq would be hard to use as the gear stick would be in the way.


I have been looking at these options for a 2 din GPS solution.

I would love hodges setup as it would put the gps in the perfect position.

That don't look like a gu to me ?. Mine looked nothing like that or is that a gq as he has a gu

No, your correct. But I'm pretty sure even the New GU's run a double din setup, and behind the plastics there all nearly the same. Just in different positions in the dash.
