MAF sensor?

MAF question. I have just cleaned the sensor, I might add the first time since I bought the car about a 100,000 ks ago. It was slightly oily but not to bad. My question is when inspecting I noticed the surround was patchy in colour not the same all around also the wire or plate inside the U has which looks like a rust spot on it. Is this normal. Its a 03 3lt turbo no nats. Any help would be appreciated My fuel economy sit around 11Lts.

IMO if it ain't broke don't fix it,
10yo 4x4 a bit of condensation might be present,
but doesn't seem to be effecting performance.
carry a spare MAF just in case, or spray

If you buy a spare, use the spare and keep the old one as spare...
