Thought id jump on here and put an update on as I've been doing little bits and pieces as i go.

I've done a few days trips around Powelltown and over the long weekend I hit up jerusalem creek ( Eildon) and did a few tracks

Here is what i've done so far

- New stereo
- New speakers
- Swapped over to LED interior lights
- Smashed side door flare off with a log ( Whoops)

Car is due to have a bit of TLC in the form of a service this weekend. Will be changing all fluids, spark plugs, filters etc

Also I have bought the following but yet to fit them.

285 75 R16 Mudstar tyres
OME 2 inch lift kit with steering damper and swaybar brackets
Dual front recovery points
Got some hose to extend the diff breathers

Hopefully get some of it done this weekend. I want to fit the lift kit before i get the tyres fitted

Ok I've put a dual battery system and battery box in the rear of the wagon for my fridge. I think that's the latest update.

Also I've noticed I'm getting a clunk in the driver's side while going over speed bumps just need to find it. Going to undo front sway bar soon and check them

BigRAWesty
6th March 2014, 11:26 AM
Get someone to bounce the car via front bar while your under it..

Could be a few different things.
Body mounts, springs, radius arm bolts or sometimes panhard bolts.
Use a screw driver to touch metal objects like springs etc and you'll feel the Clunk threw it..

Could also be you are missing the top rubber hat off your coil springs,
mine is making a noise over speed humps as well and I'm going to fit
15mm coil spacers to the top, it will even out the ride a tad as well.

You may be able to remove your grill and drop the winch in from that angle.
Thats what they did with mine.

Edit;; being a factory bar I don't think it will be possible
as the OE bar sits very close to the body work

Looking good mate, it must not have been too hard to install it as it only took two beers.

Oh and I'd get it moved to member rides stops all the "welcome to the forum" crap when clearly you've been here longer then they have ;)

I also see you went the LED indicators in the bar, I need to get myself some of those one day. As already said that plate where the solenoid can go is as simple as giving it a whack with a solid hammer, it'll pop right out and never go back in (without welding). So decide if you want the solenoid there or somewhere else before you get the hammer out? I have mine there. The winch itself is easy enough to install, you just take the guard off underneath and push the winch up from the bottom.

The guard underneath? Guessing I'm missing that bit because I could lift up a winch from the bottom easy as nothing to stop it.

Yeah mate was easy as to mount the bar itself and is probably only a one beer job. It was very windy so the lights took a bit of soldering but overall was pretty easy, actually I wish everything was as easy on the patrol as mounting a bullbar.

Well done Lucus, you'll find that most remove and refit jobs are pretty straight forward, the right tools help as well.
I find Google and YouTube to be get friends and then there is the worth of knowledge here.

How come you run your tyres in different directions?

lucus30
13th April 2015, 09:08 PM
They aren't directional tyres. They look like it but its the correct way for the tyres

Winnie
13th April 2015, 09:13 PM
Don't you think they'd perform better if they are all pushing the mud to the outside of the tyre, and not dragging it in to the center of the tyre?

lucus30
13th April 2015, 09:18 PM
The tyres are asymmetrical so the tread facing opposite ways on each side is correct and as it should be. There is no left and right in this case
Google them Good year kevlar MTR's you'll see there is a fair chunk of debate about it

Yeah you're right, strange hey. Obviously there is a reason for them doing it that way and I know nothing!

Winnie
13th April 2015, 09:21 PM
Just thought about it, because the tread is not symetrical, they'd have to make left and right hand tyres. That's why haha

Don't worry after the tyre shop fitted them I was wondering myself so had to check the google

Just discussing sleeping options with the missus and having the dog come along.. Been thinking about a tent for when the pup comes. I can see that's your choice too?

Snorkel for sure. You will get way more use from a snorkel.

I like that full boar GQ assuming that's the guy that owns full boar drawers. .?

I bought this one. It was 12.99 not 10
http://pages.ebay.com/link/?nav=item.view&id=311213086622&alt=web

It can do N/O contacts and N\C. I haven't got it to output from the Vdc input yet so dont think it does. But you just jumper it around from the power feed

Because of the low current I'm just using it to switch an automotive relay

Nice! My first swag was a simple flap-over jobbie but then I decided to "upgrade" to a hooped swag. BIG mistake, bloody hated it. The simple old flap-over was so much warmer and comfier than the hooped one, especially in icy nights. Then I bought a rooftop clam shell and happy again, although still not as warm and cosy as the simple flap-over swag, but I take doonas and blankies now!

Did a few things today.

Fixed my spotties, Adjusted my tappets (shit job), new leads, new sparkplugs and rotor button
Realistic it wouldn't take that long if you didn't have to move a ton of stuff to get the rocker cover off.

Few more things to get sorted. Rear passenger side bumper bar is loose and light is hanging out so need to sort that out

I put a return spring on the back side of each bumper light and then pulled the spring back an hooked it some behind the light. Now the lights dont move.

I need to remove my driver seat and replace the seat cushion, which I've had for ages. Hopefully its an easy job.
