High Flow Thermostat

Anyone here have used one of this High Flow Thermostat in their zd30?

Im no expert on ZD30s, but.......


Generally, if you are having cooling problems, changing the thermostat away from "factory spec", only hides a cooling problem, and does not fix it.

Be aware that most engines are normally designed to run at a certain temp for best longevity, economy and performance, by running the engine at a different temp (ie cooler), you may upset these factors.

Also be aware ,that it is possible run water "too fast" through a radiator, when this happens, the air flow passing through the rad, does not have enough time to extract the heat from the water.

there is nothing wrong with cooling with the GU however I am doing a full service
and thinking to change the Thermostat/Water Pump/Belt and Rad hoses.

also we can see that there is a leak coming out of the Thermostat so in a way it
needs to be changed.

I have installed a trident high flow unit in my 4.5 and i haven't noticed any difference apart from the cost being cheaper then genuine. I also opted for the standard temp rating of the thermostat which is 82C/ 180F, one thing i did notice was the opening of the genuine unit was slightly larger that the aftermarket one

I just ordered mine today - hopefully my parts come in before firday next week or my booking is screwed :-)
