First time Nissan owner.
Just purchased a 200 NU Patrol.
I think I may need some assistance to work out some foibles. (first time I have ever used that word!)

Ive had Landcruisers and 10 Jeeps. now a NIssan and know NOTHING about them.

G'day mate.

What is a 200 NU patrol??? Do you mean a 2000 GU Patrol?

What engine does it have ? Welcome here. If it has a 3.0lt Diesel then search NADS in these pages and research.

Cheers MR

Here we go, first question to the forum.
My engine (4500) has a bit of a ticking sound like a tappet? I dont know when it was last serviced so I figure a oil and filter change would be a good place to start. 197K km. cant hear it with the windows up to give an idea on how loud it is. so I guess the obvious answer is dont wind the window down right?

No that's the jeep repair...
Pop the bonnet and have a listen.
Does it increase with speed or engine rpm?
Can you hear it when stopped?

i think kallen means when you've come to a complete stop, not when your engine is switched off!!!! hahahahaha

Sounds like it's most likely to be tappets but may also be leaking exhaust manifold.................. mine has both tappets noise and blowing exhaust manifold and it sounds just marvelously wonderful!!!! lmao

Haha.. Yea sorry mate. Did mean rolling stop. Trying to define if it's an engine or drive line noise.
