right so I have searched and found turning the wheel left and right without motor running(10 times),then again with motor running...Now I have done this 50 odd times and it's still a pig to turn, goes well when I doing a run down the road,BUT it's still crap any ideas..Tempted to take it to the local servo guy and tell them to give it back when it's right..SH!TS me as I was hoping to get it done this weekend and then take it to the bigsmoke

Did you have a hose on the bleed nipple on the steering box? When the engine is running but steering wheel in the straight ahead position, you won't get much flow out of the bleed port. When the wheel is turned to the left, you get will get flow.

Yes mate. Certainly is. Might be covered in crap but it's there. Might find the fluid will come out black. I ran 3 litres of fresh fluid through mine until it came out relatively clean.

Should be engine bay side, unless there's variations with different models that I don't know about.

So I pulled it apart and put it back together as per the manual..The vanes had fallen out and I just put them back in and apperentley(as the manual says)the rounded edges are to be facing outwards.DOH I had just washed them and wacked em back in.Any way put it back together and repeated the turning left to right then with enginge running and it works..A big thanks to you parsky for answering my questions...
