Hey guys
I have my electrician wire my roof rack lights wired directly with a switch and the spotties with a switch too but only with high beams.
I want to connect the roof rack lights to also comw on with high beams as well as have a direct way to switch on.

How do I go about doing this? The switches are right next to each other. Is there a short cut I could take to maybe positive wire the roof rack light in the middle with one from the spotties?

I have mine wired exactly like that but unfortunately I had a sparky do all the work.
I believe both my bar spotties and roof spotties are connected to one switch and will come on together.
Then I have a separate switch to turn the spotties on the roof rack at anytime at all.

Your electrician should have wired your roof rack lights threw a relay. All you need to do is run a power source line from your highbeam relay threw a switch in the cab to the roof lights relay.
So when you power the high beams you power the roof lights, but can override the setup via switch..

Chances are you will have to replace the switch(on/off) you have and replace it with a on/off/on. have the headlight switching wire on one side and a positive from the batt on then other side and the common go to the relay, hope this helps.

Here is a rough diagram of how the switch will need to be changed.

Where it says manual would switch on and off with high beams and where it says automatic would switch on at any time if its live full time

You could just connect the roof lights to the other switch as well as it's current switch, have 2 switches.

Switch one, only works when on high beam, both bar and roof
Switch 2, direct power to roof lights.

Other then that, westies idea of the high beam triggering a relay works too.

slightly modified lol, manual on and off and highbeam switchable.
personaly i would get your positive feed for the "manual on" from the accessories that way you cant bump the switch during the day and leave them on by accident they will only work with the accesories on.

So what happened, they made you you it home. For having 5 lights on the roof rack.

It's not illegal to have 5 lights on the roof, but the law states spotlights must be in pairs.
So how can we get away with a single light bar.

No more than 3 pair's of driving lights here in sa.. But no limit on "work lights"..

So cos mine is wired up to turn on at any time I can class as work lights

If you have it wired to a switch to switch from on / Off and high beams then illegal..
If wired separate. Legal..
Now for them to define if there connected or not they would have to look for a switch.. So a well hidden switch... :D

I think its just vic law which states any lights facing forward should be in pairs. .

I think there was a requirement to have an on/off switch outside the vehicle for rear lights too.....like no idiot would walk by and flick that on for you!

It's also a WA requirement to have lights in pairs and a total of six forward facing. pretty sure roof lights must be covered whilst on the road and operate on a separate switch only......... Light bars are still a grey area but there have been reports of people being pulled over because they they have for example, 1 40" bar instead of 2 20" bars. I've also heard that putting some sort of blanking plate in the middle is not sufficient

From what I've heard, in qld you can now have light bars in certain positions. They have adjusted the law to suit modern technology. I have also heard that in states that require pairs, putting a blanking plate in the middle was ok.

This isn't brand new info, I heard it a while ago so it could be out dated?

I think its just not within reach of the drivers seat ( regarding work lights )
