Thanks all - she looks pretty good from the distance haha. She had a few scratches and minor dents, but not bad for the ages and KMs (just went over 390,000 over xmas).

Now need to take her off-road and get her all dirty like in some of your pictures on here :)

May be they are just good photos, but I would never have picked it's done that many Km's.

Nah - she's not too bad. A few people have commented how tidy she is, and they have been up close too!
But it's weird - we've never seen another Patrol the same colour. It's different to the burgundy and champagne colour, as the bottom half is actually silvery colour, not champagne. We almost bought a replacement bonnet from wreckers for $200 - but realised it was the burgundy colour, which is more red than ours.
It is still the original colour, although some bits look like they may have been re-sprayed (but still same colour).

I believe it was a company car for some guy out in the sticks somewhere. Then the last owner bought it, then we bought it. I think she's been pretty well looked after.

But we've had the bottom end rebuild, plus the clutch was done just before we got her. She runs well, and is awesome fun to drive . . . . . and if we had to go down to 1 car, we'd prob keep the patrol over our new Lancer VRX (which, BTW is also a fantastic drive! 2.4l petrol in manual. So nippy and pretty looking too!! But that's another story).

That's unusual it had a bottom end rebuild, most RD28 engine faults are cylinder head related. Without going back through threads, is this the engine that had a problem with the keyway in the crankshaft?

What is your opinion of the RD28 powered patrol? How do you find it when loaded up, off road etc?

It is indeedy :)
We think she's fine for all journeys. pretty economical for the size. Havent really had her off-road, just down some tracks in the Grampians, but she was fine - loved it!
The only thing that kills her is long hills. She's ok at the bottom, but when you drop out of the turbo range, you have to drop her down to 3rd to get the turbo back in again.

But then I think all cars run out of steam on the same hills (heading out of adelaide on south-eastern freeway is a killer - for anyone who knows it).
