Hey Grubby welcome here mate. Plenty to read and learn here.

The Patrol is an amazing and very capable car straight out of the box mate. It will go further already that you probably would. The Number 1 Limitation when off road is Traction! If you loose it you get stuck. If you are driving Dry ground then it will be nearly unstoppable, a little wet and your Tyres will let you down first.

Let your Tyres down when going offroad. It will make your travel far more comfortable and will provide significantly more Traction.

Buy a Compressor so you can Air down to below 25psi when heading offroad. I always go to 18psi as a rule and 15psi when on the beach. but a compressor will let you air up when your finished.
Buy a Snatch Strap rated to at least 8000KGS
Try not to drive alone
NEVER PUT YOUR SNATCH STRAP OVER A TOW BALL. EVER! remove the towball tongue and stick the snatch strap up the inside of the tow bar and insert the pin of the tow bar through the eye of the strap. Happy days.

Welcome aboard Grubby and congrats on the purchase......... As far as info on mods, there's heaps of info on here in various threads and the lists are endless. At the end of the day it all boils down to what you want to do and where you want to go. Compressor and recovery gear, should be your first purchases as MudRunnerTD already stated. If you're just doing beach driving, then your standard tyres will suit you well. But you may want a more all rounder all terrain tyre.
A majority of us have had a suspension lift fitted and most settle with a 2" lift, due to it being legal.
Like I said the list is endless, have a good look around the forum and if you can't find what you're looking for, just ask and someone will try to point you in the right direction

Welcome to the forum Grubby. The great thing about the Patrol is that it is such a capable vehicle straight out of the box. Once a few simple mods are attached, it becomes a legend. Where to start? MudRunner has pretty much outlined it.

Look forward to seeing what you come up with.

Welcome to the forum mate.
As the others have said, mods you do will depend on what you want to do with it.
Some guys on here are pretty hardcore, I have set mine up as a tourer that is able to go offroad but still comfortable and economical.
I believe the minimum is 2 inch lift, AT tyres, compressor, snatch strap and recovery points for any offroad play.
Whatever you do with it you will love it.

Thanks again everyone for the info and tips you are all right the patrol is great straight out of the box me and a few mates went for a run up mount sugarloaf here near newcastle and it performed great we went up a few steep hills that had some small steps and a few ruts and loose rocks was a bit worried about giving it a go as we came down the same ones when I had the Outlander and it was a bit dodgy but I gave it a go and was surprised how easy I got up them what a great feeling it is popping over the top of a hill with a front wheel in the air bit scary at first bit great fun defiantly need to get a bullbar rear bar and some recovery gear and a lift would be nice but I need to save a bit of coin before I can get any of that I even had to pull my mates jeep out of a mudhole bit of fun when It use to be him pulling me over hills we had a top day
