What are auto gearboxes like in an 03 GU?

Just wondering what the auto gearboxes are like in an 03 gu? I've never owned an auto, always just had manuals.
Which would you prefer in a vehicle that was going to get to be off road a lot and not shown a lot of love?
Any known problems with the autos?

Auto's need regular servicing other that that you could manualize it,
or just go full manual box, check achives of Chaz yellowfoot

Yea every 50 thou I think. They also need to get rebuilt or seriously looked at around 200 thou. Plus radiators can kill them.

In saying that, if you look after it and don't let it get too hot, they are great off road.
