GQ TB42 over heating and losing water

Guys, Got a 1990 gq patrol with a TB42 carb on gas and its over heating and taking a lot of water. New thermostat, radiator, clutch fan and still nothing... Oil looks good and did a pressure test and it lost only about 2 psi in 45 min and no water anywhere... Don't want to go out and get a new head just incase nothing is wrong with this one... Any help would be much appreciated please guys.

Check the gas carbie. They sometimes do the internal gasket and the water flowing threw them to keep them warm leaks in..

But when compression testing the gauge will hold the pressure read, so you have time to get back and read it..

Pull the radiator cap off and with a 2l coke bottle cut in half inverted into the filler, use electrical tape and wrap it around the neck to form a tight seal. Then fill with demineralised water half way up, start the engine and watch for consistent bubbles. You may need to refill the funnel to maintain the level and will no doubt get the occasional bubble, but consistently bubbling is a bad sign.

I also did the water pump just incase someone asks... Its blowing the water back into the over flow bottle and thats getting full so tipping it onto the road... I think its the head on the exhaust side but should piss water out everywhere when i do the pressure test. Its doing my head in.

Do the water thing. Just experienced the exact same thing with the in laws land cruiser. I thought head as it was using a large amount of water, but no leaks...
But after some digging he found water in the intake after the gas converter..
It showed all the signs of a head gasket..
Using water, a good stream of bubbles coming threw the radiator..

So I'd check the converter first.. It's a lot cheaper than a head...

Most say just bin it and get a new one.. We got quoted $300..
But first up check the intake pipe after the converter for fluid.. If it's dry then its possibly not the issue..
