View Full Version : Patrol 2.8 TD Reporting!

Hi Guys!
Just bought myself a 2.8 turbo diesel GU Patrol and really looking forward to meeting everyone with similar liking towards 4wdriving!
After all, its a lifestyle! ;)

My question may not be directly related to the vehicle itself. But I am not sure as to what are the rules for car insurance in Australia (NSW).
Can some one guide me for the same?

Also is there any offroad insurance available in Australia?

All help is greatly appreciated!

Thanks a ton!

G'day mate, Maybe a mod can move this post into the introductions section, As for insurance, best to check with the one your interested in, I know AAMI for me are ok with it as long as its a track on a map and not some random non-existent track!

Make sure to post up some pics of your beast in the members ride section ;)

Thanks for the help Eric!
I sure hope to enjoy this forum and the rig! hehe :D

As for insurance, I dont really have a preferred one yet, but since AAMI works well for you, I could consider it too!

Also all the insurance agents will definitely ask me if my vehicle has been modified in any way? I am running a stock Patrol for now, but do plan to mod it up in the future!
So what am I to tell them? lol

All help is greatly appreciated! :D

You tell them that it is stock, but ask them what they will allow modification wise, most companies from what I can gather are fine as long as they are noted on the policy and aren't dodgey...

Trekster. I have just acquired a 4.2D. It is an oldy - 1998 with 230,000 on the clock, but very happy with the condition inside and out. What sort of mileage did yours have and how have you found the fuel consumption?

sujay

Swazi, how much did you have to shell out for the 4.2?

Sujay - it was US$13k. A little high but the 4.2Ds are like hens teeth - let alone one in good nick.

Trekster. Just done my first tank to tank fill up. It was very easy highway driving ie 100 to 120km/h and gave me 12.0 l/100km.

Yes Swazi, yep its a dream car honestly!
But a little high for my price range. Hopefully the 2.8 serves me well :)

See you around brother!
