Hi
I have just got myself a GU ST-S 2005
3.0
First question, did these come out with turbo timers as standard
The old owner put a after market one and I'm just not sure it's really needed.
I won't be doing much hard pulling work.
Thanks in advance

IMO no its not a rally car where under bonnet temps can climb extremely high
If towing or HWY driving I just let it idle until exhaut temp come down usually not very long.
A good time to stretch the legs too, if only returning fron the supermarket again let it idle, gather all my bits Phone etc,
check EGT gauge and shut it down, Not a fan of turbo timers

Grant,
I bought a Turbo Timer years ago, fitted it, and then regretted that I couldn't leave the car in gear and walk away.
I haven't used one at all for years, and I have never had an issue with any of my vehicles.
The one thing I do do, is that I make sure that I don't shut the engine down straight away after a high speed run on the freeway, and I sit there at idle for 30 - 60 seconds to let everything cool down, and I make sure that I don't push it that hard when I know there is a stop coming up, so I start reducing load on the motor to help it cool down a little, by either reducing speed or coasting for the last minute or so...
