Morning Trend setters,

Thanks to Darren I picked up a very cheap and well used aux fuel tank for the GQ.

I just want to get some confirmation and reassurance of the tank if anyone can help out that would be great!

I have numbered the pics attached and listed it below, can anyone steer me in the right direction and confirm this is all correct.

I haven't taken the sender out yet to inspect, but will check it out today.

1) Gauge or pump?
2) Fuel feed
3) Fuel return
4) Filler
5)?????????????????????
6) Breather?

Also, best way to flush and clean out tank?

Cheers!

Isn't (5) a rollover value, do these even have rollover valves?

6 is the breather... I have exactly the same tank...

1 Is is a gauge and pump.. the pump runs in the centre of the gauge.

I pulled my pump out to replace and it was so bloody clean inside I need not worry.

1) sender unit, 2 wire, you need external pump
2) suction, goes to pump then main tank filler
3) old breather, should be blocked off, possibly tank was an old LPG replacement if open
4) filler, from twin filler point,
5) return line, from main tank filler line
6) filler breather, goes to aux filler

To clean the tank, pull the sender, pour in petrol , soak and slosh, tip out, pressure wash though the sender an filler holes, wipe as best as can, you won't get it all but I'd doesn't matter there is a filter before the pump

Do you need the pump. I was going to use a Fuel valve to swap the draw, not pump sub to main..

I broke off the big chunks too!
I wouldn't be to hard to butcher a couple of factory fillers into submission.

Don't know what all the numbers are but I hope that tank doesn't hang down lower than your slider ;)

You were right Gary, no pump!

Dumb question time on point 5. Why do I need a return line from the main tank when it's isolated? Where do I tap that in or just create a new T on the main tank filler line?

To return the fuel if the main tank is already full. Answering my own questions...lol

You have got me thinking..
How?
Apart from running tank dry or fitting leak.. You run these risks with a stock setup to.

You don't want to run dry
Think it would be hard to keep air out of line on the empty tank even with non return valve there would be trapped air

Thanks Gary, I think I am all sorted now with how it works.

Time to hunt down hoses, twin filler, pump, filter, etc.

George and BA popped over yesterday and George showed me this on Ebay for the pump.
