Gday,I've read that the 2.8 gu's run a smaller LSD centre than a 4.2(size of the clutch pack),but what about the 3lt models, are they small like the 2.8's or the same as the 4.2's? (h233b)thanks in advance.

might want to check the archives for an answer,
read somewhere that the D22 rear slippery will fit front of the GU

First time I have heard that. Most models run the H233 but allot of the 3.0lt came with the larger H260. If your front and rear diff are the same size you have the H233. In fact what am I talking about!!! The RD28 runs H233 front and rear in the desirable 4.6 ratio. I have RD28 diff centres I
In my GQ but now have the RD28 4.6 diff centres in later model GU diffs. No Question H233s

There are 2 types of lsd rear centers for the patrol. One looks very similar to an open diff but the use clutch packs to load the side gears. The other is like a basket style.

Tassie wombat, what they come in is hard to determine there is a good thread on the other forum with pics about this but no real confirmation what came out with what. Either way they both work incredibly well and there doesn't seem to be any noticeable difference in strength.

The h260 is basket style and a physically larger centre.

No you are right too. The back of an Navara also runs the Same centre and is suitable for the front of a GQ or GU with a H233. But the ratio won't be 4.6

They can both be tightened. But I'm not sure if roadrunner do a shim to suit the "smaller" style, however it wouldn't be hard to knock some up from some shim steel.

So if you saw a picture of it could you identify it ?

Sorry, bit of a hijack but while we're on the subject.....

Does tightening up an LSD past factory specs cause excessive or premature wear to the clutch packs or any other components?

Yeah the top pic is the one you will prob have to make shims up for it get extra plates from Nissan. The second pic is the basket type that road runner make shims for.
