Trying to make Mav bomb proof.
Remember reading TB's have a weak/poor power cable to coil or something or rather.
Wondering if someone can post up instructions ,Thread how to !,
Including things like what size cable, place fused relay here, etc etc.
Maybe a shematic even, would be helpful.

No-one knows how !!

Is it a TB42E or TB42S? if it's the s does it still have the ballast resistor fitted?
At a fast idle measure the voltage across the battery and compare the reading at the positive side of the coil (or at the positive side of the ballast resistor if fitted).
If it's less then a volt difference between the two I wouldn't worry about fitting a relay.

It's a TB42S.
new ballast last yr.
4x different coils.
3 coils failed.
Always had a slight miss as a Dual fuel seem to.
no carby back fire.
But recently
New cyl head, timing gear, dizzy bearing, good rocker gear.
carby kitted.
good plugs and leads.
had a while.
ext rotor and std rotor.
pertronic L/s and points.
since new head, it's been tuned for petrol only and
bl##dy slight miss, driving ya nuts, it shouldn't be there.
just want miss gone.

Thanks
Started Mav Measured battery at fast idle read 14volts.
ballast single white wire 11 volts .
so you recon I need to bypass ballast oem wire.
use the oem ballast supply lead as the new relay trigger?

So you are getting between 6-8 volts at the positive of the coil?
To set up a relay, disconnect the White wire with a black trace from the ballast resistor and connect it to pin 85 of your relay.
Connect pin 86 of the relay to ground.
Connect pin 87 of the relay to the ballast resistor (where the white wire with a black trace was connected).
You will need to connect battery positive to pin 30 of the relay. You can either get this from the battery or the back of the alternator.
Use a good quality 4mm2 wire from the battery positive to pin 30 and from pin 87 to the ballast.
You will also need to use a good quality fuse/circuit breaker mounted as close as possible to the positive supply.

have to check don't remember Missus taking car, wont get to it before the weekend.
Yendor, Nice instructions thankyou.
cheers.
