Hi guys

I'm looking at getting a lift kit installed for my 2005 GU IV patrol . This would depend on price variance between 2inch and 3 inch .

I don't go off road that much . I'm after a basic, cheaper kit- Possibly IRONMAN - 3inch if possible

What other mods would be needed for a 3inch lift ? I'm looking at getting this installed at a shop. What are advantage and disadvantages between 2 inch and 3 inch . How much should I be paying ?
Any recommendations of workshops ?

I will be running 33inch Cooper all terrains.

Other than looks why are you wanting a 3" over a 2" lift if you are only running 33s? I have a 3" lift on my GUIV and am pleased with it.

You will need springs and shocks as per a 2" lift. Also you will need caster correction, I use Drop Boxes and they are great. I did not need adjustable Panards.

You will need an adjustable front Drag Link too. Sway bar link extensions and extend you diff breathers.

Do you recommend 2 inch ? what is caster correction ? I want to lift the car so it can fit 33's . less mods the better .

You can fit 33s under a GU with No Lift. Removal of the front mud flaps is all that will be needed.

If you want to save on costs but get the suspension upgrade then stick to a 2" lift as its less complicated and will give you a great ride.

No straight bolt up. A couple of hours in the driveway should see it done.

I think I will stick with 2 inch . the 3 inch sounds like a big job , so much mods . probably cost an arm and leg

would 2 inch get me across most 4x4 scenarios ?

Possibilities are endless, four springs four shocks and maybe castor correction to get the front diff back into position, could cost you just for parts anywhere between $600 to $2000.
So just get the best you can afford.

Most folks on the forum have a 2" lift with 33" tyres.
One it's legal and two it's very easy to fit with little mods.
2" lift and 33" tyres will get you through most scenarios.
