Hi all.

I have a couple of questions regarding how the dual tank works. I have a basic understanding from a previous question but need a little more help.

1. When the main tank runs low will a fuel light come on?

2. If I don't hit sub tank button will it run out?

3. When the fuel transfers from sub back to main, does the engine use the fuel from the sub tank at the same time as transferring?

4. If I did run the main out, does it need bleeding after hitting the sub tank button?

5. Does it transfer from sub to main at a rate sufficient to continue to drive?

This relates to 4.2TD ex Telstra.

Thanks all.

Marty.

Also remember the sub tank pump will transfer a bit of fuel everytime you start the car, so after a while, the subtank gauge will start to go down ,even though you dont ever push the switch (this is normal)

Yeah I have noticed it goes down. I did 650km on main tank, gauge was pretty empty but still no light on, as I was so remote I hit the button. I must say the transfer and gauges seemed slow.

Anyway. It worked.

A little orange light does on when its on the E line. It fills slow as it trickle feeds into the filler neck

Noticed tonight when the sub is empty the dash button light goes off too! Well i am guessing empty. Well below the E line in the gauge anyway.

Took her on a pretty harsh road trip this week. Washouts. Rocks. Bull dust. Not your average bad road. I must say WOW. should have bought one years ago. My mechanic said today "Nissan build a better 4WD, Toyota are just better at selling them" I was very impressed.

Best of all for me. NO dust in back. Miracle.

If your interested look at Wadeye NT in google maps. That's where I went this week.

Just re filled after that run. 910 km of shite roads and tracks. (Had a ball but it was work!) averaged 15.8l/100 4.2TD. I guess that's ok. Loaded up. Off again in the morning. Wet season soon here so gotta make the most of it. This week heading out of Darwin. Daly River. Peppimenarti, Palumpa, Wadeye and return next Monday. I love being paid to go to 4wding. :)

Ill let you know what I think to the new HID's as I am on the road at 5am.

Cya.
