Hello
My names Corey , firstly my first 4wd was a mk lwb 3.3 turbo diesel , it had a lot of rust and soon found out that I don't like lead suspension .
So I then brought a gq patrol 4.2 carby , it was a much better ride but used a lot of fuel and very slow with 35s .
It had a 5" lift and 35s . I took it down the snowy mountains Easter long weekend , the clutch fan had seized up which put more stress on the water pump bearing which collapsed . So I had a coolant leak , no water pump or alternator . This happened on the way home just out of Canberra , I managed to get it to goulburn stopping every a lot to top it up and let it cool down , but the last 30 km I cooked the motor which turned it into a diesel . I could not stop it pulled off the lead to the coil still ran , so had to put it in 1st gear to stall the motor .
I had a td42 at home so I put that in, with in a few weeks it was running .
I loved the td42 over the tb42,a lot better .
Only a month a go I rolled the GQ up at appin, going down some rocky steps , so I was on the hunt for a replacement .
Decided I didn't want another gq I started looking for a GU with a blown motor .
I found one with a blown motor and it was agreed that I'd buy it with no motor or gearbox , got it cheaper as well .
So now I have a GU with most of the GQ parts .
It has the GQ td42 and gear box , 5" lift out if the GQ and also has 37" procomp xterrains.
Still have to finish it off but motor and box are all bolted in and it starts and runs . Should be finished in a few weeks
Thanks for reading ill put pics up soon
