well for the 3rd & last time I have had the unfortunate experience to have used a particular supplier for my 4wd needs, after 3 conversations one of which was face to face in the showroom counter I now have a standard SM clutch in my truck, this is meant to handle rockcrawler gears, aggressive tyres, tough rear diff, unlike some I like to play & play I do, I punish my 4wds because that what I do, I toasted my last standard factory clutch & after spending 2 days on the phone to Brisbane & Melbourne including hours of running around to different clutch mobs in Sydney & flogging forums like this one I settled on a particular clutch, a clutch I could purchase cheaper in Melbourne even though the Manufacturer is 5 minutes away from my Sydney home, this particular supplier did a better price so it was a no brainer as to where to purchase it, so that's what I did. I went to the gearbox company doing the work for me & saw a pretty shiny silver clutch sitting behind my motor, I new immediately it was a standard clutch by the colour, several phone calls later I was informed by the supplier this was the clutch I was quoted on, well I thought I was present during these conversations but it would appear that I wasn't.

I was told I would have to pay an additional $400 for the clutch I thought I was ordering which is dearer than what I could get in Melbourne, I wonder why this is? This does not include the labour needed to remove, clean, repack & take back the wrong clutch, collect & install the correct clutch, apparently this is my issue, I now this clutch will fail, it is designed for the highway, not offroad as I need, it will slip when I need traction the most. I will not name this Supplier but they are on here & some people know who I am talking about, I have edited previous posts to remove their name but I will make sure that all the people I know will know what they have done to me this time, I am President of my club, chair a 4wd Committee, sit on 2 other committees heavily associated in the 4wd community, have regular dealing with suppliers & heavily involved in the 4wd Adventure show in Sydney, I have now made it my business to tell the 4wd Community about this supplier, I am a little Aussie battler who supports a stay at home Mum & 4 young children, I work extremely hard for my money, spend it very wisely on the best kit I can buy, a clutch is a very important purchase & should never be taken lightly, I researched it & based on popular opinion decided on this clutch only, thanks to this supplier I will be back in a short period to replace something that will cost a small fortune.

I would like to thank you for bending over the little guy because you made a mistake, people like me are happy to accept people makes mistakes, we all do, unlike you, we have to honour our mistakes but I refuse to pay additional labour costs for your mistake, you refuse to do anything about it as it was clearly put to me it is a money issue as well, sorry this is YOUR mistake not mine so please be advised, I am in 2 4wd clubs & several forum & website associations including this forum, as this supplier is somehow associated or affiliated with this forum I will not name them, but that does not stop me naming & shaming this supplier on every other form of social media I have access to, this will goes to 100's if not eventually 1000's of 4wders in NSW & around the country, again I thank you for burning the little man to make you feel like a big player

Hello Morton, ..... Iam am going through this clutch problem myself. I have not reached the point you arrived (in seeing the wrong clutch fitted) but Iam having trouble getting the true figures and r and r costs for a clutch in a 99 TB45 GU. The alleged specialists workshops in my area tend to charge 900 to ????? for the clutch and up to 1200 for fitment of same. Is it necessary to remove the engine. Some say yes some say no. Anyway I would like to hear your views. You can contact me on 0428 217 811, . I am in Wagga and years ago I was a member of the Blue Mountains 4x4 club. Your Beau ....marmon007.
