Hi gang
Well I've been reading from this forum for about 18 months now and finally think its time I introduced myself and my Nissan. Ahh where to start? I bought my mates 97 GQ chop down nearly 2 years ago. It had always been our fishing rig when we go up the coast to Shark Bay so when he dicided to sell it I just had to buy it. The reson he was selling it was that it was just plain gutless. After the money was passes over I straight away started looking into more power for the old 300k TD42. One of my bucket list things was to rebuild a deisel so it seemed to Meir sense to have a go at building one. I picked up a block and ported head of a guy in Perth for $500 and after talking to Matt at United's found that he new of this guy and that the gear was good. After a lot of reasurch I dicided to put a full turbo rebuild kit in it. SMS turbo pistons (ceramic and Teflon coated) turbo oil squirters, balanced rods and crank. Sh#t I think I replaced everything in it and didn't skimp at all.
Now time for the bolt on's. Matt's (United Fuel Injection) reputation on TD42's is great so I worked with him for the turbo and fuel pump. Ended up with a TD05 20g turbo and a 11mm pump with boost comp, DTS low mount manifold with 3" dump pipe. I also put on a Plazmaman water to Air intercooler barrel. Living in Geraldton has been a bit of a pain as you have to wait for all of the bits to come in the mail but finally got it all done in about 6 months. I pulled out the old TD42 and dropped in the newly rebuilt TD42t (hybrid), fired her up and all was good. Took her for a run to Perth so Matt could give it a good tune. We got 137rwkw out of her at 18 pound of boost and that was good enough for me.
It has now been in for about 10k and I'm still driving it like a 17 year old. I love the old girl and am more that happy with it now.
I could go on a lot more but I recon that will do for now.
Thanks
Hendo
