Hey Users,

I know you have probably seen this post before but I'm about to start looking for my first 4x4!

Now I'm looking at GU's & Probably a 3.0ltr DSL, I know about all the issues and have decided to look at the 2003 models. I have about $20,000 that's my limit!

Now all I want to find out is what should I be looking! In terms of K's? I'm thinking one that's done as little as possible but it looks like around the 150 to 200 mark seems to be within my budget. Now what cost could be coming up in terms of services? Is there anything i should know about?

Now This truck isn't going to be 4x4 every weekend of the year! I may go out light 4x4ing from time to time but nothing crazy.

Any help would be fantastic..

Petrol may be what you're after heaps of power and cheaper to buy, but your $20k limit should see you get a 2003 with a few mods if you look around

like 3D says, a bit of info re self and perhaps something on your profile page would be appreciated.
For mine, having had an easily maintained 4.2Diesel for about 400K and a more complicated 3.0CRD for about 160K, I'd suggest a later model GQ rather than an earlier model GU. That's only from the perspective of low rev grunt and relative simplicity of maintenance.
Do it all yourself and the cost is irrelevant, you can't get cheaper. Dealer etc. you'd have to ask them. Service record is essential. Me, I like the records maintained at home by a nutter like myself rather than some unknown dude in a pressure workshop.
Test it well.
