hi all fellow nissan enthusiasts, i have always loved nissans, and that has never changed over the years and owning other brands has only reaffirmed my belief that nissans are awesome :) until this year id been focused mainly on the performance street nissans, but ive grown bloody tired of public transport and catching lifts as the boys in blue dont like how fast nissans can go! so time to say good bye to fast cars and bikes and get off road. i started with a suzi seirra and swapped that for mh triton which i quckly discovered wasnt goin to satisfy my wheel travel urges and breaks cv shafts way too easy.
so ive just got my first patrol GQ tb42 1990 in rather poor condition with the intention fixin it up for weekends as far off the tarmac as i can get.

a few spots of rust to attend to and a fresh coat of paint and a new bullbar should fix up the exterior for now. the interior however has not seen a vacuum since 1990 by the look of it. :( seems the last owner also didnt think armrests or window winders or the drivers seatbelt were necessary and put alloy or stainless door cards on the front doors and ran wires all over the dash and floor and bloody made a real mess. as for driveline well ive just washed off the mud and bulk of grease and will get to looking into that more but it drives ok no major issues that ive come across yet. stabislizer is disconected at sway bar and ill need to sort the front end out as handling and steering leave a lot to be desired, but theres no dings or scrathing under it, so i dont think its seen all that much off road use. probably dirt roads mostly id say. motor runs well on gas not so on petrol. considering goin gas only as the price unleaded isnt going to get any cheaper. ideally id like a td42. maybe in time :)

Welcome to the forum. The good thing about restoring old nissan patrols is that they will last forever! Looking forward to seeing what you can do.

welcome aboard mate .... congrats on your rig ... try going the mechanical first route ... then the electricals and then the coat of paint .... anyways by the time you get to the coat of paint you'll realize that a coat of caked mud is more orgasmic !!

cheers
