Im replacing the tie rod ends on my Mq and thought I might replace the boots on the draglink and panhard rod ( upper draglink). I know if the boots are busted they are already set to fail, but they seem to be fine and I dont have the $400 odd to replace them right now, just the boots have holes ( can notice when you grease them). Will the Gq replacement boots fit the mq's as I cant find boots for the mq but can get them for a gq.
Cheers

G'day Raven,
Where you from?
There's no info on your profile page.
In Adelaide we've got a Patrol specific wrecker and I've found those guys are pretty up with that sort if inter model info. Wouldn't expect a Nissan dealer to be very interested. Myself, I can't help as I've never had probs with that.
Good luck
Col

Sorry mate, Im in the Blue Mountains. Wreckers around here dont have too many Mq's unfortunately but heaps of Gq's. What Im thinking by replacing the boots/dust covers is for maybe the sake of $20 a pair I might get another few km out of the ball joints that are on it now. To replace both even on ebay Im up for around $400 and for that I may aswell look into getting a modded Gq draglink and being done with both links on the Mq.
Cheers for the input Col
All the best champ and nice to meet you

Just a thought mate, albeit a bit late.
If you're only trying to exclude dust and crap from the joints for a while would it be possible to wrap a (maybe shaped) piece if inner tube rubber several times around the joint and fix it with cable ties pulled really tight?
Would need to go round several times at least and then be well pumped full of grease. Would look dog fugly (but you can overcome that by not looking) and you may not want to go through sill high mud but it MIGHT see you through for a while.
