GU 16 " or 17 "

Hi all.
I have a 2003 Nissan patrol 2003 GU with 265 70 R16.
I need to get a second spare rim and tyre and having difficulty finding one.
I have seen quite a few 17 " rims and tyre combos both new and used for sale on ebay >
QUESTION .1/ is the 17 " rims only suitable for 2004 onwards ?
Question 2/ what are my options as I need 4 on the car and 2 spare ? keep looking and get a spare or get a new set of wheels and tyres 6 in total ?

05 06 on had bigger brakes thus the 17", stick with 16" more tyre styles and availability outback is great.
Check 4sale section someone selling wheel/tyre combo just recently, Most here would run 285s x 16 which
is a sniff over 33" I'd ask as many may have rim tyres lying around

Not quite true John, only the 4.8 had the bigger brakes but the industry went to 17s.

I have swapped all my 17s for 16s as the tyres are cheaper and easier to get everywhere. Chase a 16.

Later model 17s will bolt straight on.
