G'day all,
I've been getting a really bad squeal on and off when I'm driving along coming from the front breaks of my GQ. At first I thought it was the car in front as the pads were replaced and I figured the back ones would need doing before the front again but when I heard it later on and I was the only car I got a bit puzzled and decided to have a look. I took the front wheels off and noticed when I spun it by hand there was a lot of resistance and the pads were clamped on a bit I had a mate who's a plant mechanic have a look and even he said its harder to spin then it should be. Just wondering if anyone here would have an idea as to why it would be doing this? My mate said maybe something is gone in my brakes and is leaving a bit of fluid in there so there is always pressure?
Any help would be greatly appreciated
Cheers

When you took the pads of did one look noticeably more worn than the other? Souinds like the caliper is not releasing properly

I haven't taken them off yet mate I was going to wait until I bought some new pads then do it. Is it an easy fix if the caliper isn't releasing properly or is it not worth it the fix and just as easy to buy new ones?
Cheers

Might be worth pulling the slide pins out and giving them a clean and re-grease. I pulled mine apart the other day and was shocked at what I found. Surprised it still stopped.

Might be a stupid question but where are the slide pins located?
Thanks for that I'll have a look

There are two bolts that hold the entire caliper unit to the hub, then there's two smaller bolts with rubber boots on each end of the caliper. Those are the sliding pins. The part of the caliper that has the fluid hose connected to it basically floats on those 2 pins. If you understand this logic you might be able to work out where the pins are. Hope this helps.
