G'day all!
I'm a first time fourby owner (happier than a kid with free lollies!) Bought myself a 98 Patrol with a 2.8 donk. Luv my camping and fishing but have always been a passenger not a driver! I hope to pick the brains of knowledgeable people to get quality advice and opinions. I have minimal mechanical/ electrical knowledge but keen as to learn! Onward! yeeeehaaaahhhhh!!!!

Ta much Threedogs! Yup I'm still fizzin at the bung! At 51 I'm feelin like a kid again! I'm keen to learn as much as I can bout my "Luvvie" especially the DIY side of things. Keen to install a second battery and associated wiring and plugs for a fridge ( to keep that health giving fizz water in!) Thought I was beyond getting excited bout things in general but this has lit a furking big spark mate! I'm off to the Cape on her maiden voyage late August with best mate and cuz. Can't wait. Will post pics asap.
It's tyres below you and skies above you right??? :-)

You'll find quite a few members will be doing the Cape this season, so keep an eye peeled for the forum sticker.
Keep your Mods sensible and not over the top and you'll end up with a great touring 4x4, but we knew that anyway eh lol
Aux fuel always a good mod along with the dual battery,

Welcome mate, surely the best forum on the net. If you need it, you can get it, if you want to know it, just ask it.
If you want to find it, go to the search bar for a universe of information.
Enjoy the sights and sounds of the greatest show on earth.

I'm feelin the Luv (for Patrols!) Thanks for all the g'days fellas, much appreciated. We're headin up the Cape last Friday in August and gonna be away bout three weeks in total. Best mate and cuz I'm travellin in company with are veterans of the area and have some nice little out of the way places to spend time in. I'll take a bucketload of pics and share wen I get back. :-) As I said in my opening comment my mechanical/electrical knowledge is limited but there seems to be more than enough people on here willing and able to talk you through pretty well anything! (although brain surgery with a chainsaw might be a bit of a stretch! haha) I'm looking forward to the increased learning curve. I am officially the proudest new first time Patrol owner in the southern hemisphere and I'm so glad I found this forum. Worth it's weight in gold. Again, thanks for the welcome. Happy tracking to all!!!

First mods I'm keen to tackle are installing a snorkel, a second battery (for the fridge) and a shelf system. Anyone here that has done the same to a 98 2.8? I got about three brain cells on active duty so reasonably confident of tackling these things myself with some clear instructions/pics. Also been told that the LiquiMoly range of goodies are sweet treats for my donk. Thoughts?

The first mods I'm keen to tackle are a snorkel, a second battery for the fridge and bits and a shelf system for said fridge and bits! I do have three brain cells on active duty so confident of being able to follow clear instructions/pics! I'm not a brand name junkie so looking for good quality that I won't have to hock a kidney or the soul of my first born to afford! Reasonably handy on the tools so will build the shelf system myself. Anyone tackled these projects themselves on a 98 GU with a 2.8 donk? Appreciate any and all advice/thoughts.
Cheers all.
