Hi all. I did a search and couldn't find exactly what I was looking for so my apology's if I am still posting something already posted. In a few weeks I will have a few spare bucks to get my GQ 91 wagon back on the road and I wanted to do as much as I could before I get someone to issue a roadworthy to get her registered. Is there a thorough check list that anyone knows of that I could reference before I get started? I'm in QLD (Cairns). I'm not exactly trusting of cert issuers since I had one done years ago and my car failed after the mech claimed that my "rear passenger side window wound down too slow" . I did ask why that would fail a car rego inspection and he stated that "If your car landed in the water , your rear passenger would take too long to get out through the window!". Letting him know that no one could wind a window down once under water until the car filled up with water didn't help. This was for a car we had just spent over 60 grand on restoring. Either way I don't want to chance anything so any tips realty would help.

Each states roadworthy guidelines are a bit different but here in vic at a minimum

No oil leaks
All exterior lights to be working and their lenses not faded or cracked
Brake lining a minimum of 3mm
Disc brake rotors above their scrap thickness and drums no larger than their max diameter
Rims tyres as per factory spec but can be 25mm taller and 25mm wider and the tyres to have more than 3mm of tread
Windscreen not to be cracked or excessively sand blasted

The list goes on and on from seat belts to suspension bushes and the ADR's that the car was made to comply with, so check with your local RTA and EPA with what requirements you must meet.

Check the rubber brake hoses (between the hub and chassis )- as they crack (I got knocked back on these)
Windscreen washers & wipers work (front and back). In vic if its there it has to work!!
If the seat is damaged - put a seat cover over it
Cracked or loose steering wheel
Cracked or badly faded indicators
If you have a spare it must be road worthy (in vic)
jack and handle
All bushs have to be ok
etc
