Buy a tape measure? Don't rely on someone else's measurements. Measure your own vehicle, then find out height of roof rack you're wanting then figure out final height.

I would go for a 3 Metre High Carport as sometimes you might want to load Roof Rack under Cover

Hi Ron.

Not sure on your vehicle make but I would take some measurements of your vehicle from ground level to highest point. Which is most likely the rear of the roof line (as most vehicles have a higher lift in the rear to compensate for load when towing) or this could also be an ariel, then I would add at least 12 inches (1 foot) for clearance.

Now this also depends on the type of carport you are building. Is it a stand alone structure, meaning it is not connected to your house? or is it a carport that is attached to the facia or wall of your house?

I am currently building a carport which is attached to the facia of my house and the lowest point of the support beams are 2195mm.

Cheers,

Rob

As high as you can.. You find you will have restrictions.. Father in-law had a 2m restriction... He Had to apply (more $$$) to get his shed to 3m..
But I'd say 2.5 minimum.. Try for 3 or even 2.8..

As MT says 2.5 will give you 300 easy to spare .I had to cut {notch} my carport to facilitate my last 4x4 ,
the patrol fits under fine with rack on top

you still have to allow for jacking it up with anything that may be on the roof rack...pain in the arse having to move it out from under if raining or unloading it with no clearance

STD length of most sheets for lining sheds etc are 2.4 mtrs high .
IMO I'd work around those figures

you can order them in any length you want TD ...you still only pay for linear metres..(unless you are going to bunnings !)..if old mate does the maths first it will save him a lot later from needing to raise it...
