Looks clean BUT!

THAT IS NOT A GUIV it is a GUIII. The GUIV is the shape change. I reckon that would be top dollar for a GUIII, if you hang out for a GUIV you will likely have a CRD ZD30 I would think and in 5 or 10 year will still hold better value as being the first of the current shape versus the last of the 1998 shape.

If you can find a GUiv then you will score the updated interior too. Completely different dash.

Don't be in a hurry mate, borrow the paseo and find the right one. This may be the one but price it against other GUIII instead of GUIVs in the market.

Is it possible being a transition year they were all labelled as GUIV? I have a similar model to yours daz with exactly the same running but the utes still retain the old shape all the way through to current.

I used to have people telling me my 1999 GQ Ute doesn't exist until I showed them the compliance plate and vin.

Reading your text in conjunction with your pics made my ears prick up.

Mudrunner is spot on. GUIV is the change of shape.

Amelia, I'm not trying to dent your excitement, but I bought my '05 GUIV with 121xxxkm on the clock for $25k over a year ago and its Mickey Mouse! I did however buy it privately not through a dealer. Again not trying to boast or be a downer, just wanted to add some perspective.

All the best with whatever you decide!

MudRunnerTD
22nd July 2013, 08:39 PM
Yeah it's interesting Mat, Cuppa has an 06 TD42Ti and his is still a GUIII shape but is classed as a GUIV.

In the wagons it is certainly distinguished with the shape change.

I think the most important thing though is that Amelia understand that there may well be some cross over in timing with the GUIV and the GUIII. Understand what she really wants and negotiate down if its a GUIII.

If she is keen on a GUIV then she gets the updated interior, larger cabin, 17"rims, current shape and better resale down the track. Not sure when the CRD was added to the range but if she is on the cusp then chase a CRD for sure!

WTF !!! I couldn't find the actual 'facts' of dates ect but looked at pictures of the interiors ... the 2004 GU IV pictured on Redbook has a completely different centre console ... the 2004 GUIII pictured on redbook has the same centre console as the one I'm looking at. End of day I really don't care about resale value, as with Frank, I have no plans to sell and will be putting 16" wheels on it. BUT bugger me I can't believe the VIN checks are showing it as a GU IV when I tend to agree with my 'expert panel' that it's a GU III ..

Nissan will be getting a call from me tomorrow to "please explain" ... the guy who owns it will NOT be happy about that fact either I would imagine.

ETA : soooooooooooooooooo could it be they changed the shape in 2004 but used up the last of the GUIII shapes etc. but badged them GUIV?? Will be interesting to see this guys full compliance plate

Shaz whats your ideal patrol for funds available etc,
Take it we have $20k plus a bit to play with.
Now we need to find the highest year build with some sensible accessories and reasonable Ks for that particular Patrol
Then we need to look at service history /any major mechanical work done. Then someone to have a quick look to make sure
its a sound Patrol.
seems 2004 keeps popping up is that the year your looking at or 2005 if the price is right ?

not the compliance plate. Mine for eg are 4mths apart

Thanks Matie but yeah, older than what I want .... Looking at 2004-2006 depending on prices. Gonna give my head a rest for a week (LOL - yeah right) and just drive the Pulsar around

AND I've accepted that I'm not going to find a GREY one for the $$$ I want to spend that has what I want. Having said that am looking at GU IV now not GU III. My finance broker is having trouble sourcing finance on the older models, especially for private sellers. Have seen a couple of contenders and a BIG HUGE THANK YOU to Mat who I dragged out on Tuesday to look at one for me ... between him & Brad I walked away without buying a car ... LOL

Paid to have my 80 series Cruiser resprayed a few years ago (or should I say my ex-husbands 80 series) and that was scarey enough. Apparently I have Champagne taste on a Spewmanty Budget LMFAO !!

ETA : Drove the Pulsar all around Brissy yesterday and it's actually REALLY nice to drive. Have lined my Mum up to buy it when I'm done LOL so fingers crossed she will - she needs an update too ....

So let me get this right once it was 100% it needs to be Grey, now its not, so what colour now.?
Where once it was series 3 now its series 4, is this a chick thing or do guys do it as well.
You'll love the Pulsar come fill up time, but don't get sucked in by its economy, or is the plan to sell
it to your Mum just hear say as well, Spewmante that's the colour of my Patrol , thanks I thought it was
exotic like Sandstorm or Pewter, lol

Yeah yeah yeah must be a chick thing - the GU III to GU IV is someone's fault (other than my own of course) cuz they do look "prettier" & some still around same price .. The colour?? Well I'm hitting brick walls with Grey unless I wanna spend $10k more than I wanna really spend so I've accepted (with a dropped lip) that I may have to choose another colour LOL

SO how bout I say 100% NOT Gold HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA I just couldn't have a car the same colour (or close thereto) as Brads ute

Just thinking if you cast your gaze further afar then you're more likely to find what you want at a price you can afford. I've just done a quick search on carsales over here and there's quite a few grey, silver, pewter or whatever the bloody colour is.......... Oh and there's a shite load of white ;)

There another burgundy one at Moggill for sale by an older couple - it's a stock standard 2005 with 249k and advertised at $17500 .. They need to sell due to illness so that could possibly be an option to? Brad is gonna call them when he wakes up. It's 10-15mins the other way :)

I'm starting to really dislike looking for a car to replace Frank
