Hi all

Have noisy boost controller when boost is at or higher than 10psi. With 3" exhaust turbo spools up readily and 10psi (up to 16psi) is achieved often and for long periods under load. I presume noise is excess air being vented and is rather annoying and loud enough to be clearly heard over conversation
It is one of those small round blue ones that is adjusted with an allen key.
Have thought of enclosing controller with something to reduce noise but need suggestions on what to use and how to secure it. It is quite close to turbo so heat is an issue.
Thanks in advance for your thoughts.

What make and model of boost controller is it? Different boost controllers work different ways.

Pull it apart it may only need industrial grease or Vaseline to seal it better.
Just remember how many turns you do

Sounds like you are using a turbo smart type controller. They have a bleed valve and I would say that is where the noise is coming from.

I tapped that app

Edit : Sorry see what engine. NVM.

I have exactly the same thing. Droves nuts now I just ignore it.

Does your have a T piece with like an over flow discharge tube. Like a bypass. Simple 3way design.

I assume the noise is coming from the discharge at max boost. Mi e does it from about 10 or 11 psi up to the 16max too.

I thought it may have been as a result of blocking the EGR at the intake end only and the blowby making a noise like a flute but concede that think its from the boost controller.

Get a turbosmart item you are using s GFB item. It could also be that your turbo is working a little harder due to the boost increase.

Hey mat, that noise you heard in my GUIV when we took it for a spin is the noise from the boost controller if you remember
