Nah all good mate, it will only take what it wants and needs. there will be no down side to that.

Bigger is better for a turbo diesel like the 2.8. Hell if it would fit I would have a 5" on my 4.2 for performance reasons.

Would be like hanging a chimney on the side of the patrol.
Mate, if you have got pics of the upgrade that would be a great help.

Do it. The way I see it is, even though it would not utilize the air now, but if there is ever a bigger engine put in you already have the snorkel for it. You can always restrict the air if too much, but you can't add more air if already restricted (without redoing). Less hassles to get what does the job now and the future. Pretty much same cost and labour regardless of size.

If your trying to get more air in might want to think about exhaust and getting more air out.
As most motors from any factory are choking, helping them breathe has to be a good thing

I have the standard snorkel fitted if I was to convert to 4 inch would just go through the same hole after enlarging it and then reduce it down to a 3 -21/2 inch and run it exactly along the same route as the standard keeping all the original fittings under the guard to the air box so effectively would just really be a bling thing other thing to consider is putting a cover over the top as dimwits tend to drop beer cans down them

Just wanted to see what it would look like on the car hey, whether I want to go that route or a plastic one.
Cheers,
Eric.

That is one slick piece of snorkel. Is it one piece or is it three separate bits?

Thanks snorkle is all one piece was a pain in the butt to fit but the end result was worth it

Did you go straight threw? Or down the 1/4 to the front box?

I went to the front where the original is, i had to open up the hole by 10mm and made a plate and tight radius bend to go between the guard and inner guard33570335713357233573

I couldn't go thru the inner guard coz there is a reinforced strip that i didn't want to cut and my abs unit is there aswell.
