2001 Y61 ZD30 Speedometer Error

Hello guys, am from the Philippines with a 2001 Y61 ZD30 (we call it the Nissan Patrol 3.0 here). My (analog) speedo simply stopped one day, stuck at 23kph. The trip meter and odometer keeps on reading but being digital, I suspect this is another circuit altogether. Co-patrollers here have banged heads with no solution at hand, but a total replacement of the gauge assembly. Can anyone help me out here?

I would remove the speedo head and inspect. It might be something simple like the speedo needle is getting caught on the facia?

I think Yendor may be onto something, as according to the manual, the speedo, odo/trip meter,tacho,etc are all controlled by a 'speedo/control' unit. Whatever that may be.
It would suggest that if only one part, the speedo is playing up it may be a specific mechanical thing.
