GQ Patrol General info

Hey, I'd like a bit of general info about GQ Patrols, and what sort of issues to look for when buying one, and I'm also curious as to how similar the TD42 Diesel engine is to the Petrol engine? I know they are both 4.2's and they look very much alike, so just how similar are they?

The diesel and petrol motors sound different -

The patrols have either a carby or EFI set up with a coil.

Have a look at the compliance plate (although there are a few converted patrols around)

Look for rust - Rear roof, around the rear window frames, fire wall.

Check the oil for water

Start and run the motor with the radiator cap off - if you get bubbles- head issues

Take it for a drive

if it's a dual fuel, run it on both petrol and gas when taking it for a drive .. some owners only run it on gas so you could run into problems with petrol

i would have loved a diesel but couldn't find a good one under 10k .. petrol is doing just fine tho :)
