They really vary a fair bit mate, that one at Woods Point s tiny. i have seen and stayed at others that would accommodate maybe 10 swags.

Hey Kris , looking forward to seeing you again mate.

The biggest killer in the snow is laying on it. Last time I did it the cold soak up through the 3 tarps, Swag, thermorest, 3"mattress and sleeping bag was nearly crippling. Chilled to the bone and No Escape.

Really need to get the Barrier between you and the snow your laying on right or your in trouble. If there is no snow on the ground we will all cruise through this, if there is snow on the ground then everyone should use what they have.

Buy 3 copies of the Saturdays Age and spread it out in your swag under your mattress will work good too I reckon, if you don't need it burn it ;)

Didn't realise you we're cold on that weekend, I was warm, it shows that everybody will be different. I would also say that you should put a tarp over your swag so it does not get wet,

I'd have to look at the Track Log, i was following the leader. I was the second car through the water, by the next car it was fully dark. and the last cars it was Black as Night gets.

Funny, each time those vids start i have just got back in the car from a fair Hill climb on foot and am out of breath. That river crossing was Ballsy mate, you could not see the exit from the entrance even on foot and there was logs in the river everywhere.

I remember standing there as second car down a track there was really no reverse out of. we had literally 3 minutes of day light and had to make the decision NOW. "In or Out!??" Farkit! IN! GO!! Now!

Come what may!

A wise investment to stop your diesel waxing up overnight.

I've only ever seen the alpine diesel up the Mansfield side of the high country, never in "the valley".
As I drive a petrol I dunno what the stuff is called but know it to be a good thing.

Yep..75% diesel & 25% heating oil or 95% diesel & 5% kero will do the job.

Stainless coz i like the way it crackles, some say it tinny but coz its brittle it resonates differently from mild steel plus its easier for me to get mandrels with a tight radius. I was going to see what was the biggest resonator to fit underneath, try it then add a hot dog or another muffler.

Strip the claws off your bead locks and fit the MTZs and sell your Claws because you will Never fit them again! Can't imagine why you would refit a 33 to go bush once you have a set of 35s to get the job done.

Sell the claws while they still have some tread and cash up.

I have got a little trip planned for Kev, Bryden, Kris and I for Saturday morning, going over Mt Margaret which a mate was "THIS" close to rolling his Hilux on. I've not done the track before but been told by a bloke who was with him that it's not a hard track he's just a crap driver. Excited!

Hahahha.....a mate of mine calls Hilux's "Tippy Trucks"

Rossco and I will be leaving here on Friday very early and doing a run through the state parks to the meet up.

I just can't be bothered driving all that way around when we can cut through the state parks and have some fun along the way.

The longer this thread goes, the closer I am to taking the Friday off work.....

i will see if i get time. Do 4x4 obsession change tyres? I dont trust a normal tyre shop with the internal bead locks. Heard a few horror stories and dont need that the week before a big trip.

I took the friday off today. Picked up a roof rack so will try get a side awning atleast by time we go. Or might just have to throw a tarp in to sleep under.

What time were you leaving Daz. I am in Gisborne so might try follow you if it suits.

Pretty sure Brett has a tyre changer. Give him a bell and tell him your from here.

I am heading off hopefully around dinner time Friday night. Taking the back way and might do a few tracks on the way through. Happy to roll out the swag late.

Gary (lift lid) and I will be travelling together and both have Simexs and front and rear Lockers. Not sure what we will be doing but may have a play. Do you have a winch? Will you have a Navi in your car or travelling alone? If your up for it then happy for you to tag along mate.

That sounds like a good plan. We will be able to do the track and still beat BA and Mudski there. I have to swing past croyden on the way to pick the chains up but will still be there round 9 ish.

@Mudski.
Saw those boots and bought a pair they are comfy as.

@AB
Real men wouldn't need a heater! And besides with the cars side by side with a tarp over you won't need the heater with what will be going on.
