I have been in contact with ECUTalk and post theIR reply ...........Yes the ECUTalk LCD display has the trip meter readings for fuel economy, see the ECUTalk LCD page and userguide from the website for more info.
Basically once you set the injector cc/min size and number of cylinders it will show you instant fuel economy, and also on the trip meter screens will show average fuel economy for current trip and since you last reset the trip statistics (e.g. when you fill up a tank).
DOES ANYONE HAVE ONE FOR SALE??? I NEED ONE URGENTLY!!!!

I have a Nissan Patrol 1999, 4500 Auto Ti Petrol engine and I wish to know if there is an engine diagnostic scanner which I can run. I have a Scan Gauge but can't seem to get it to work. The OBD1 white plug is quite unusual. Is it possible that someone has converted the plug to take the Scan Gauge which has an OBD2 plug. I've tried but without success.
I am also running a stroker, its a beauty!

My pertol guzler has been tamed, and believe that I may be achieving currently around 10klm/ltr. I need more positive digital information, then Part 2 is to achieve 20Klm/ltr. Sound good, then keep posted! No bs.l
I am still looking for the Scanner which will suit my Patrol, have you any clues as to someone who has a second handie for sale, a new one is so expensive!!

Thanks for your response. I have a Scan Gauge which fails on my 1999 Patrol 4500. This vehicle has a 14 pin OBD, not the New OBD2 with 16 pins, which I believe became compulsory after 2006. There is no possible way to replace the 14 pin plug with a 16 pin plug because the vehicle CPU doesnt respond. So I need the ECUTalk scanner, and they are very expensive for my use. I wish to only measure Klm/litre, an am hopeing that someone may have another econometer which they could recommend for my Nissan
Again 3Dogs, thanks for your interest. Would love some info for a suitable econometer.

Hi Clunk
Thanks for the reply, i am so pleased that my thread is being looked at. So many websites which promise this activity are a failure, however I have found this Nissan.com a very helpful one.
The manufacdturer, who is in the US is just that, a manufacturer, it seems. I am a manufacturer also, i find that a bit of personal service goes a long way, that must be your experienhce also. What i know is that a happy satisfied client is the best advert you can have.
Still lookion for a secondhandie though, one hasnt come my way yet!
I am hoping to revolutionize economical motoring, an aspiration going back to the invention of the automobile. My technology goes back to the late 1800's, so keep posted as I'm there, just after the hard core evidence which technology supplies.

You may need to find which protocols your Patrol uses I believe there are 5 in total.
Going through the same thing ATM as my 2004 some did some didn't use OBD2 diagnostics
Edit::: Checked the OBD2 plug on my Patrol and only 9 pins are in use 5 on the top row and
4 on the bottom row, now I'm really confused
