G'day all,
First time post on here so not sure if im in the right place but here goes!
I just bought my mates old warn xd9000 winch out of his troopy. I fitted it to my 99' GU TD42 with a factory Nissan steel winch bar. I had to fit the winch upside down in order to allow the cable to pass through the opening in the bar without fowling on the lower lip of the opening. This in turn means that the 'out' button on the remote works as 'in' and vice versa. My question is - does it matter that the winch is running backwards?

Yes. The low mount has an internal drum brake. You should avoid extended periods of "winch out" which is your "winch In" as the brake is engaged the whole time and the drum will get very very hot.

Mate please head over to the Introduction section and post an Intro thread, it's like saying g'day when you enter the room. We like it. ;)

No worries bud ill do that now. Cheers for the info! I was under the impression that these winches were the one that nissan supply from factory when you option the have one. Is there anything i can do make make it operate correctly? Sorry if these are dumb questions i have never owned or worked on a winch.
Cheers,
Pat
