I am Andy from Eppalock. GU 4.2 diesel which I have had since around 2004. Mostly in 4 wd for detecting on weekends, but I have taken it across the Simpson, Mitchell Plateau, Kakadu, etc. Never missed a beat.

It has a massive one piece pintle hook for towing - I have always assumed it safe to use for snatching. Opinions?

Hello and welcome to the forum, gotta luv the 4.2. has a great reputation.
As for the Pintle I think that should be left for towing duties as IMO that's what
they are designed for in the first place. Heaps of tips and info here for you ,
