Hi this is my first post, fairly new to the 4wd scene, busy prepping my 88 tb42 dual fuel for a trip to cape york next june, any advice welcome

she has

3.5 lift, 33's, safari axles inc rear diff lock (not connected yet), pertronix ign,

just ordered dual battery system and a heavy duty return to centre shock, i know i need to get a better rad as she like to run a little warm due to damaged cooling fins and no fan shroud,

please advise on what she needs

i'd like to fit a winch to the chassis and keep the tjm bull bar if possible, anyone know how to?

Here's a pic of Rosie

Hi Minty and welcome plenty of tips and info here ,
jump in and enjoy.
You might be better starting your own thread in the right section.
Plenty here have or are going to the Tip either this year or next.
Spooky but you are not alone. lol

IMO I'd be removing water tank from top of roof rack, think about your centre of gravity.
Other than that you're nearly ready to go Lol

Welcome mate, surely the best forum on the net. If you need it, you can get it, if you want to know it, just ask it.
If you want to find it, go to the search bar for a universe of information.
Enjoy the sights and sounds of the greatest show on earth.

Minty, there are all sorts of options you can add, and most people go overboard for the "big trip of a lifetime", and buy out half of an ARB store. Get yourself a decent uhf, a good first aid kit, and tool kit + spares kit, and then make sure you know where you are going and what you are getting into. Renting a sat-phone is another common one as well. You can drive to Cooktown, Coen, Lockhart River, Chilli Beach, Bamaga and many other places in a Ford Falcon these days, and even Prado's get there, but if you are going to do the tele-track or the Frenchman's Track, and challenge the creeks, your requirements will change and there are plenty of threads on here that cover that sort of gear. Most essential is something to keep the beer cold...

Hi guys

Thanks for the welcome, will start a thread on the winch thing, we're planning to do the telegraph trail but I may skip some of the extreme sections purely due to lack of experience off roading here, done a fair bit in the UK but its a lot different to here

Cheers

Its possible to get a winch cradle made up that will sit between the chassis rails (I done this on my GQ).
