As the title, can I use the Castrol magnatec professional oil on my patrol 2,8GR?
This oil is rated 10W-40 and has the api rating CF. The weather here in Norway is between -20 to +30. The instructionbook is telling me 10W-30 for use over -20 degrees C..

hi jakob .
I think you would be better off with 0w-30 . but I think you should check with people in Norway as we rarely see temperatures as low and for as long during the year as you would in Australia .

Well, ok.. The temp is rarely as cold as -20C degrees. That's about the coldest i've seen up in the mountains.. Normally down to about -10C degrees where I live, about +20 max in summer here at my place.

Is the api rating good enough?

Hi Jakob, I suspect that the reason you are not getting a great deal of response is because what you are asking is way outside of most people here's experience. Most here are Australian based, & a significant proportion have probably never seen snow let alone the sort of temperature ranges you are operating in. Although I would think you would probably be far better seeking local advice we do have a few members from colder climates & they yet see your post & make suggestions.

Thanks. I've have changed the oil now. I used 10W-40 castrol oil. This is accepted in the instruction book at my temps, so this should be good. But I only have one problem....

-After the oil change, I found the oil pressure lamp light up from 3 sec to 5 sec after startup. I was thinking it's the filter, Boshi. I've never heard about that company before. Changed to a Genuine Nissan filter, but same problem still. What can the problem be caused by? Is there a one-way valve in the oilpump that doesn't let the oil back down in the oilsump? Can this be stuck in open position?
-I think there has been a long time since last oil change, so I'm thinking that dirt might put this valve stuck..

Any suggestions?:1087:
